Breakfast at Tiffany’s

line

I saw it a few days ago on Cinemax, early in the morning. I think it was around five am. I hadn’t slept since the night before and I was all alone in the living room, flicking through the channels absent-mindedly when I saw that the next program on would be Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I thought, hey this should be interesting. I can’t believe it took me this long to finally see it and found out what the fuss was all about with that movie.

Well actually, the song ‘Moon river’ was the original theme song for the movie, and Audrey sang it too while playing the guitar. But it wasn’t just the theme song that I liked very much. It was the fact that Audrey was so dazzlingly beautiful and she was so chic, considering this movie was made in 1961. I really think, though, it was really her who made all those clothes look so nice on her, because if it were someone else wearing them Givenchy gowns I’d just say they looked dowdy.

And it was a really, really good movie. I know now if there were ever a quiz which asks “What’s your favorite movie?” I would say this one (although such question only asked at Friendster, but still). I normally couldn’t think of any, because most movies you just like them for a while and then you get bored of it soon enough. It was nicely done in terms of the story and the photography and all and I was bawling my eyes out at the ending when she was looking for Cat and … oh never mind.

Anyway, Audrey – gosh, I am in love with her. She is so adorable and when I googled her I found out that she was also a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. I mean, when ever was a famous and talented movie star beautiful in and the outside? No wonder she was a fashion icon up till today.

Then I remembered years ago when my brother and I were watching TV and there was this movie on, The Nun’s Story. Also with Audrey in it. At that time none of us knew who she was except that she was really, really beautiful and none like any other American actresses we’d seen before. My brother was crazy about her. He started browsing the net for info on her and got disappointed terribly when found out that she was already dead, at 63 years old. He was like, 17 years old.

That’s what I meant about Audrey though – she is timeless.

Man, everyone should see Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The clothes, the story, the beauty – I bet everyone who loves SATC will love BAT.

I love, love, love Audrey.
