100 Things.

As I’ve been tagged by reedler to write a 100 things about me (which is a very hard thing for me to do since I cannot even picture myself coming up with 5), I decided to brace myself and do it anyway.

I know a lot of people tend to be very creative with these things, so bear with me if it gets a bit boring, yeah?

1.      Most people (and what I mean by people is Indonesians) cannot figure out what race I belong to. The most guesses they’ve come up so far is Manadonese, and they weirdest one so far is this one time when a guy approached me at a bus station and mistaken me for a Thai.

2.      Most people are surprised to know that my father is Javanese, even though I inherited his facial features – from the eyes and nose to the chubby cheeks.

3.      I can draw since I was in kindergarten.

4.      I speak and write English quite fluently.

5.      When I was little, I used to be a bit dyslexic, until my mother told me to read everything I saw.

6.      She also bought me lot of books to read, which had become a hobby of mine.

7.      I love the smell of a new book – sometimes I bury my face in between its pages just to inhale the smell.

8.      I cover almost all of my books with clear plastic sheets to preserve their newness.

9.      I wash my hair twice a day; in the morning and in the evening, in the same time I take my showers.

10.  I’ve had the length of my hair past my shoulders only twice in a lifetime, and I don’t think I will ever do it again.

11.  I cut my hair every two to three months, and the style is invariably similar to each other. Right now, the bob-cut suits me best.

12.  I like looking at pretty girls more than I do at good looking boys.

13.  I used to be a tomboy who refused to wear a skirt or anything tight until a high school friend of mine changed my whole perspective.

14.  I can play the guitar.

15.  I love dogs. My first dog is my Micah which I finally got to own when I turned 25.

16.  When I was little I listened to a lot of classical music, then moved on to jazz and sort of stuck to it since.

17.  Then I got to know trance in my early twenties (can you believe it) and got addicted to it.

18.  I listened to any trance songs at least 2 hours a day.

19.  I can get high just by listening to trance.

20.  I used to be fat; like flabby-midriff kind of fat. The heaviest was 63 kg. I now weigh invariably between 50 – 52 kg.

21.  Just like Rima, I have a char-dar too!

22.  When I was young I used to have this sort of ‘guardian angel’ who would help me make tough decisions and when I ignored it, I ended up making a huge mistake. It kept saying “I told you so” afterwards and it was sort of annoying.

23.  If someone walks into my bedroom whilst I’m asleep, a few seconds before the door opens, I dream about a person who tells me, “Someone is going to open your bedroom door and it’s going to happen right about … now!” and then bam! the door opens, and that’s when I’m awake.

24.  Ditto to alarm clocks. Hate it when that happens, which is not often, fortunately.

25.  I love dogs.

26.  I talk, sing to, and dance with my dog.

27.  I often have strange conversations with God.

28.  My beau taught me how to meditate and this is how the conversation got 150% more intense in which I could cry and smile at the same time.

29.  I cry everytime I listen to Don Moen. Everytime.

30.  I often feel very lonely in very crowded place.

31.  I have never been drunk.

32.  I don’t smoke or do drugs (I sound like a candidate for a blind date just then).

33.  I don’t like the idea of having children and I will never have any.

34.  Whenever I see children running amoks in a shopping mall, I intentionally bump into them just to show how careless their parents are.

35.  Most children I know are spoiled brats and their parents it seems are no better than them.

36.  Most parents I know don’t know a thing or two about being a parent.

37.  I hate the common perception of marriage and if allowed, I will actually choose living together as opposed to the idea of getting married.

38.  I don’t know how to put on make-up. Or maybe I do. Maybe not. Well, people can’t seem to tell the difference anyway.

39.  I am confident to that think I am pretty enough that I do not need make-up to enhance it. I do, however, use make-up to cover up my facial flaws.

40.  I still have acne problems, after all these years.

41.  I used to suffer from acute acne problems during my teenage years.

42.  I’m a DIY girl; everything that I can do at home, I’d do it – from facial treatment to bikini wax.

43.  I have very tiny wrists and bony, veiny hands even though the rest of my body is curvy.

44.  I have very thick, black hair that once I tried to colour it, the hairdresser need to do it twice since my hair had so much resistance to it.

45.  I have a very crazy imagination when I’m joking with friends.

46.  I have no imagination when it is actually needed, like the time when I was doing Writing Fiction at university, in which I ended up telling my distorted personal experience and exaggerated it to the max.

47.  I seldom read the newspaper, except for the Reader’s Opinion or the Sunday edition where there are cartoons and satirical articles being featured.

48.  I read the same books over and over again and never get bored of them, despite knowing how the stories end.

49.  I’ve read The Catcher in the Rye about 30 times since high school, even though it was never a part of the curriculum. It was that Mel Gibson movie, Conspiracy Theory, that really got me interested to it.

50.  I have, however, read To Kill a Mockingbird as a part of the ESL curriculum and found it difficult, in which I proceeded to rent the movie instead to help me understand it better. It was creepy.

51.  I watch Sex and the City religiously and know most of the dialogue off by heart.

52.  I cannot sleep without a blanket no matter how hot it will get.

53.  Sometimes I can be very disgusting; like spending all day in my PJs and bumming around doing absolutely nothing.

54.  I find it difficult to drink 2 liters of water a day. I hate the idea of drinking plain water itself.

55.  I have eczema because I am allergic to dust and perfumed soaps. It also flares up when I’m stressed out.

56.  I also develop gastro problems when I’m stressed out.

57.  I love to eat and read at the same time. I always grab something to read before I eat. But only at home, though.

58.  I had once been healed through reiki.

59.  I treat all my stuffed toys very gently.

60.  I hate seeing disassembled or beheaded stuff toys. I think it’s cruel!

61.  During the May ’98 riots whilst I was studying overseas, I had a dream of being in the middle of a riot between students and the military force in which at one point I saw a student’s head being shot right in front of me, and the content of his head spilled everywhere. It was so real and terrifying, even more so because I hadn’t known that it actually happened, until I read it in the news.

62.  Brutal images haunt me and I cannot forget them no matter how hard I try, and they seem to come up the most inappropriate time, like when I’m about to eat or having a cuddle with my beau.

63.  I didn’t own a mobile phone until I started going to university. My first mobile was a Philip Xenium 989.

64.  I drove my mother’s Honda Civic into a tree whilst I was in junior high.

65.  I didn’t start to really learn how to drive until I was 25. I actually enrolled for driving lessons in which I learnt jack shite and realised that it was so much better to learn it by myself.

66.  I had been in a collisioned car accidence once and had not dare to drive over 80 km/hour since.

67.  I think I am a better driver than my beau, no matter what he thinks.

68.  My first real car that I owned is my current olive green Karimun Estilo.

69.  I love my Fujitsu Lifebook, and I don’t think any laptop within the same price range can be as good as this one.

70.  I have a lot of work experiences that I actually took down most of them when I re-created my CV to apply to work in Indonesia, mostly because I got zero responses.

71.  I had worked in Subway and I can tell you this much: The food is nowhere near fresh!

72.  I used to be an English teacher and contrary to the fact that I’m a very impatient person, I’m actually very good in teaching.

73.  I tend to correct the people around me whenever they make a mistake in using English.

74.  I tend to adopt the persona from whatever attire I choose to wear at that time. Feminine, if I wear skirts. And sitting with my legs spread apart, when I’m wearing jeans. I’m still a tomboy after all.

75.  I am a bag and shoes person. No, wait, I also have a vast collection of bath and body products. But I have a lot of bags, though. And shoes, even though I end up wearing the same pairs over and over again.

76.  I don’t believe politicians.

77.  I believe in Karma.

78.  I believe I am living in a country where the rights have become wrong, and vice versa.

79.  I’m a very avid people observer. Their behavior never fail to entertain me.

80.  I think Indonesians are the most pretentious people I’ve known.

81.  I get creative sparks in between 4 – 5 am, in which I’m usually bordering on sleepy or can’t-be-arsed to do anything.

82.  I work better at nights or really early in the morning.

83.  I love watching the sun sets as it is a God’s masterpiece and I feel really blessed and happy whenever I get the chance to witness its beauty.

84.  I consider myself to be really lucky and blessed and I am generally content with my life.

85.  I believe in the concept of a soul mate, because I have met mine.

86.  I would prefer being weird instead of being mediocre, and a lot of people have told me that I am in fact a very strange girl.

87.  My crazy imagination is what keeping me sane during the most depressing times of my life.

88.  I tend to be pessimistic towards myself, but optimistic towards others.

89.  Cooking is probably something I will be extremely good at, if ever I get the chance to develop myself further to it.

90.  I am very bad at maths.

91.  I got average scores during my academic years.

92.  I forget 90% of what I have learnt at school and they are never used in real life anyway.

93.  I seldom watch TV but I watch it just for fun, especially when it comes to Indonesian Infotainment and sinetrons. It’s almost as entertaining as watching a comedy.

94.  I have a thing with intelligent men who possess broad shoulders and slender necks.

95.  Which is why I fancy men like Adrien Brody and Thierry Henry.

96.  I can be very dirty-minded if I want to. Not many people know this. Well, now you do.

97.  I am more turned on with sexual fiction instead of vision.

98.  Which is why I own a collection of Harlequins’ novels.

99.  However I do prefer hentai instead of porn.

100.  I agree that before you buy a car you must first take it for a test-drive.
