This is It.

I’m loving the current blog theme - it’s called Modern, and the minute I saw it, I fell in love with it - it was exactly what I’d been looking for.

Thanks to Andie Summerkiss for sending me those brilliantly clean and simple minimalist Wordpress themes - you’re my new hero!

Now, the plus and minus about this theme:

+ It’s clean

+ It’s got big fonts for the postings, and small fonts for the sidebar

+ It’s unique and slightly abstract

+ People will either love it or hate it - just like Durian. And Rima says I’m like the fruit. So there you go.

And the minus:

- It’s not widget ready, so I have to add the widgets on the sidebar manually. As in, adding codes that I’m not familiar with. Like, CSS, HTML or whatever the hell it is.

- Which forces me to have an overnight crash course in coding, which can probably put as a plus, but I’m too tired to get into that now.

- I had to trawl the entire world wide web looking for codes to allow adding stuff like Recent Comments and Recent Post, drop down Archives menu, Tag categories etc’, - mad. They should come automatically with the theme.

Conclusion:

I’m loving the theme and I don’t care what people think -  I ain’t changing it!

Back to Hiatus now.

LOL I was considering this theme for about 30 minutes before moving on to another one. Now I can’t remember why …

I am sending you something I found about widgetizing the theme. I never use it myself but it could get you started. I think non widget is fine, you did great..

Well, it’s a beautiful theme, thanks to you for finding it! ;)

I don’t think this theme can be widgetized - what I mean by widgetized is adding the drag-and-drop widget features like some themes do…

Good to see that you are pleasing ourself, rather than us cyber critics. It really is about you and the content. Only us shallow batik lovers worry about colours etc etc.

Cyber critics! Is that a new term? :) I am very happy with this theme - some think it’s a bit unusual, which what I like about it!

It’s friday today, are you wearing your Batik? my boy did - and boy oh boy he looks good!

MUCH better than the dark one..

@andie: when are you gonna send me nice templates like these? I love yours, but i want something more ‘genit’ …

You already got a nice collection of templates from Woelank! Greedy greedy!

    Go Therry!
    Love this!
I’m moving to wordpress as well, but with bloody dial up connection I’m having, I must wait until I’m back to UK. Can’t wait to use the logo header (*cough) :P

Everyone’s moving to WP! Hahaha… I persuaded Rima and now you too! I’ll show the logo tomorrow :)

  5. Eru Reed Says:

Don’t forget about that WEIRD header thing :D

Try unique, instead of weird, eh? *nudge2*

  6. ecky Says:

Why everybody’s moving to wordpress? why? tell me why?

I want new template as well, but any body wants to be volunteer to help me out with the template?

I keep bugging Anita for weeks to help me out with HTML code when I change to my current template, any body.. any body wants to help me out? ;)

I think everybody who prefers to use their own domain, use WP as their CMS because it’s quite flexible and there are tons of plugins that you can download and use, not to mention all the cool themes that you can use :)

    What’s wrong with your template?

  7. woelank Says:

    so therry…
which places you want to widgetize?
    post, sidebar, footer?

Sidebar… but I’ve already done it (after so many trials and errors and doing my head in trying to understand coding). I’m sticking to this theme - it’s got my sweat and tears on it ha3x…

  8. Lorraine Says:

This one is calming for the readers. Love the sober grey & white combi.

It is lovely, isn’t it? Glad you like it Lori!

  9. Toni Says:

I can’t change my template Therry, only the header. Well, at least it’s free :D
Clean & simple and not “genit’ as Rima wants.for her template :)

but your blog comes with artistic-looking photographs that you take yourself - and that’s far more appealing than mine! Hehehe…

You should see Rima’s new self-hosted blog template - it’s way cooler than mine :)

  10. lastlifeinmyuniverse Says:

i’m all about minimalism… as you can tell from my blog, i think.

so naturally, i like your new theme.

Thanks Debs! I like your blog too, it’s so you! ;)

  11. Lorraine Says:

Can/will anybody explain to me the advantages of blogging in Wordpress? gw anak baru nih…

I’m using WP for the CMS of my self-hosted domain because it is easy to use and there are great themes, tons of plug-ins and flexibility to tweak the the theme around ;)

  12. woelank Says:

    therry…
Do you still needs any help for choosing the template?

I’m sticking to this one, thanks Woolie ;)

  13. woelank Says:

    look at this…
its Rima who found it but how do you think?

It’s aaight. But not enough space for the title if it’s a long one, no?

  14. rangga Says:

i love wordpress too. it’s easy to be managed. there’s many of free CMS out there, like joomla, mambo, but it’s a little more difficult to be managed.

    anyway, it’s a nice template. :)

so, this what woelank’s said in silly’s weblog huh?

    >>> ‘lagi ada emak2 berkelas yang les private nginstall wordpress ampe masang theme segala…’

mhehehe.. *toss dulu ah lank, damai..damai..* :)

Hi Rangga! Thanks for dropping by! I’ve started to learn about Joomla recently - a lot more difficult than WP!

Actually, that wasn’t me Woelank was talking about - that was Rima! Check her new website out, it’s cheeky :)

Oh… maybe you’ll add some of your artwork to your theme ha?

Yeah, some people might think I’m a snob, but my taste is very minimalistic and simplistic, kinda like the Hermès of bags ;)

I will definitely display my artworks, but in the Portfolio section :)

I use Modern too, and have had no luck trying to piece in the code to widgetize the sidebar. I’ve read a million tutorials and nothing seems to work. Any tips?
