being a good teacher without giving extra homework to your students. Can you? You are a real teacher if your students have a lot of time to play with their friends outside of the school, with a smiling face…

Titus, my rule is plain and simple; if they don’t keep their scores up then that means they want extra homework. I stress about this at the beginning so when they get extra homeworks they can’t complain. If they do, then they simply must study harder and improve!

I think teaching could be really satisfying if one can does it well. Some the the most influential people I’ve met were my teachers. For my part I just have trainees from time to time. They can be fun sometimes but unfortunately for me I seem to be losing patience with them. I keep imagining my hands around their necks for some reason….must be getting old and cranky.

Don’t I feel glad you’re not one of my students!! J/k

i am a crappy teacher. children bully me and have zero respect for me. i promptly gave up trying to teach a children’s choir in my church after my first try. call me a quitter, i really am :p

I used to get bullied too!! In the first couple of weeks! Then I realised that I couldn’t be so nice anymore. So I had to unleash the inner bitch in me and scared the heck out of these guys. But after the third week, I usually softened up and became buddies with them

I work in two places now, an English course and a (private) school. In the English course, I don’t always like the situation as well as the atmosphere in the classroom; many of my students go there because their parents asked them to. In the school, I love most of my students since they always show their interest in any material I give (according to the curriculum of the school of course), no matter how killing it is. I am of opinion it is because they love me. LOL.

Hi Nana! It’s hard teaching something to the students who feel forced being there, they lack the motivation and willingness to learn! I guess I’m lucky to teach students who want to be there (even some of them don’t really show it), but the first week is usually the trickiest because they’re still shy and unsure about how to behave in class. Sometimes all they need is just a little nudge to increase their confidence

Haha yeah… giving hell to naughty students is the best thing ever, because you know they deserve it!!
